Founded by Francisco Mondaca Molina, sw70 is an independent research and spatial practice rooted in the question: how are space, collective memory, and time intertwined? From this concern, the practice builds bridges between research, artistic production, architecture, urbanism, heritage studies, and critical inquiry. Rather than working within a single discipline, each project develops the methods required by its own context, combining spatial research with exhibitions, installations, heritage work, publications, design practice, city walks, teaching, mapping, and archival research.

Sw70 operates as a collaborative platform that brings together researchers, artists, architects, institutions, and local communities according to the needs of each project. Across scales and formats, the practice develops new ways of reading, experiencing, and discussing built and natural environments, paying equal attention to what remains visible and to what has become obscured, forgotten, or invisible.

The name SW70 refers to the 70° south-west meridian, tracing the territory from which this practice emerges. Rather than functioning as a geographical marker alone, it acknowledges a situated perspective: a way of understanding space, memory, and time rooted in a specific territory while remaining engaged with broader international questions. From this position, the practice asks not simply how forgotten histories can be represented, but under what conditions fragmented memories become visible again.

Francisco Mondaca Molina is an architect, urbanist, and researcher. He holds an M.Sc. in Urban Design and is currently a doctoral researcher in Urban Anthropology at the Department of European Ethnology, Humboldt University of Berlin.
